Clipping Coupons

Does clipping coupons save you money, or is the time you spend finding, clipping, and organizing them better spent doing other things? If you dedicate every waking hour to hunting down coupons for absolutely everything, then you may be going overboard. You can find enough coupons to save a couple of hundred dollars in a day, but how much money do you have to spend to save that couple of hundred?

Of course, if you receive coupons in the mail or on the back of cereal boxes or other goods for items that you are going to buy anyway, a few seconds of clipping per coupon is definitely worth it. The problem arises when coupons tempt us to purchase things that we ordinarily wouldn’t, or when we become so obsessed with saving money that we actually end up spending more because the coupons make it “such a good deal”.

Here is an excellent article from Yahoo Finance that helps you to do the math on coupons.
